Throughout my life, I've always had opinions. Fortunately, my parents respected me as a real person and listened to me, within reason of course. However, I grew up during an era when children were expected to be seen and not heard. You spoke when spoken to. This carried over into your home and upbringing. You were the reflection of your parents' class, erudition and (g)race plus their ability to raise a family and be seen as a picture-perfect civilized American family.....of course.
It was important to behave in a courteous manner at all times. As a child, you were brought up to be polite and mind your manners, especially in public. Parents and their children's acceptance into a desired level of culture and friends relied heavily on proper behavior, manners and appropriate attire for the occasion. It was important within this culture of upbringing to demonstrate that you were refined or what some referred to as being "seditty", otherwise known as snobbish.
Mind you this was not the case for everyone and their family then and even more so now. Various situations, local, nationwide and global have drastically changed, specifically with the outbreak of technology. At the same time this technology exploded, it created a massive overhaul of what is acceptable in our society. Some of it has been positive; a lot of it has not...which brings me to my opinions.
I am not always for what society accepts or doesn’t. I am at the age in my life where I will express my opinion whether it is liked or not. As the song goes, "It's my prerogative. I can do what I want to do". The difference is I can say it like I want to. If you can't deal with what I'll be writing about or how, then shut-up, shut-out, delete and move on because, I am…..
